Rachel Charboneau is a marketing strategist and mindset coach for female entrepreneurs ready to take their growth to the next level and get them ready to hire on teams. She is also a digital creator and you can see more of her style on her Instagram account.
Can you tell us a bit more about yourself and your career journey?
Absolutely! My name is Rachel Charboneau. I am married to my wonderful husband and mom of my amazing daughter who is currently a toddler going on 30 (lol). I recently just took a huge leap and started my own business after being under the umbrella of corporations for the past ten years in the digital marketing space. I developed a foundational skill set to consult with business owners and develop effective marketing strategies. I then realized that my passion was not helping the big corporations but instead helping the female entrepreneur who is already kicking ass but needs some marketing strategy and motivation to take growth to the next level.
Rachel, why did you make the decision to become a marketing strategist and mindset coach?
I made this decision because:
1. I LOVE working for myself and on my own schedule from home.
2. I LOVE getting to choose my clients and that literally all of them are creatives.
I’m a creative myself so it feels like a secret language and way to connect with other like-minded females that is seriously magic when the ideas and creativity flow.
How would you describe your job?
Fun. Inspiring. Stretching. Constantly new challenges and figuring out solutions that grow my capacity and skill set in the industry. I literally get to meet with my clients for one hour a week each and talk marketing strategy and check-in on their mindset. It doesn’t feel like work and I love that so much.
What were some of the challenges you faced when you first started?
My biggest challenge was taking the leap itself and choosing faith over safety. It was pretty amazing and exhilarating. I didn’t have one paid client when I quit my job. I was doing work for free in exchange for testimonials. 4 days after I quit my job, I landed my first client who PAID IN FULL. It felt like the universe gave me a confirmation that I was on the right path…and now the rest is history!
According to you, what is the most important part of a successful marketing strategy?
Great question. Thinking on this…I would say the most important part of every successful marketing strategy I have implemented is that no strategy when implemented is going to look the way you think and to just embrace that. You can have a roadmap and a plan and a final destination in mind…which is AWESOME and you should! Buuuuut things WILL change along the way once you actually begin implementing it!
For example, I have a client who is the owner of a beauty company and when promoting products, we had a set color palette and idea in place for ads, email marketing, and influencer promotion. For some reason, one of our ads was really failing and not picking up traction at all. It had all the right verbiage, carrot, and the picture was perfectly minimal and eye-catching (in our minds and based on what we had used before)…but for some reason NOT WORKING! It didn’t land one sale. So we reassessed and an idea came to me to switch out the coloring of the background with a brighter color instead of the neutral minimal look. We said f*ck it and did it and I kid you not…we generated the MOST SALES EVER in the history of using ads off of that small change! It literally came down to the background color of the ad. The final destination of gaining sales remained the same, but the strategy shifted when we realized our original plan was not going to cut it for this.
Moral of the story…be open to not always being exactly right and that failing is only failing forward and getting you closer to the money making idea!
What is your favorite part about being a mindset coach?
My favorite part is the trust and friendship I gain with my clients because underneath every successful woman in business are pieces of life that have defined her. Some are amazing and others are not so beautiful. All of these moments have made up this beautiful human and MOST of the time I come to find that the biggest blocks women face when growing their business stems in unworthiness. Feeling like they’re an imposter to their own success. In order to implement the winning marketing strategies, the mindset has to be dealt with first and faced head on. I won’t do it any other way. I’ve seen too many business owners get in their own way by not dealing with the root issues and always circle back to the same problems. I’m determined to help women succeed EXPONENTIALLY and this has by far shown to be the best starting point as well as my favorite part of the process. Our minds are extremely powerful and channeling that power is VITAL.
As previously mentioned, you are as well digital creator. What advice would you share with someone who wants to become a digital creator?
- Do not stop and keep showing up!
- Consistency is KEY! I’m a mom of a toddler and married plus running a business and I still make time to shoot all of my IG content and caption it ahead of time for the week every week. I LOVE creating content and finding new ways to connect with my audience. If you love doing it, it will never feel like work! Keep showing up.
- Face your blocks that are preventing you from creating and smash through them! You will get better and better the more you show up and really get to know your audience.
- Treat your social channels like a real community. Remember, real humans are on the other side of all of this. Be real and authentic. Put your ideas out there. You can’t lose in this because your content and creativity are YOURS!
What motivates you to keep working on your business to achieve further success?
The people I get to serve. My little girl – I want her to see her mom devoting her life to building other females up as she builds her own empire. Community is everything!
Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers, any advice?
I will leave you with this…if there is something you’ve been wanting to do or feeling pulled to start I urge you, DO IT AFRAID. Life is way too short to have “what ifs” and we live in an amazing digital age where information, art, creativity, is at an all time high. There is space for EVERYONE because we all come with our own unique perspective, voice, and hello, DNA! You are the only YOU! Don’t let the fear of blending in stop you from putting out what you’ve got. Own it. Do it afraid. Be bold. Be radical. Be different.
